With the continuous development of positive psychology,how athletes maintain a high level of athlete engagement during training or competition has become an important issue to be solved urgently by coaches and athletes.From the perspective of empirical research,this paper studied the current situation and characteristics of athlete engagement of athletes,systematically analyzed the influencing factors of athlete engagement from coach leadership behavior(external resources)and sport confidence(personal resources),and the extent of the influence and the mechanism of influence on athlete engagement for different types of coach leadership behavior have been compared in the this paper.The athlete engagement questionnaire,the leadership scale for sports and the trait sport-confidence scale were used in this research,by which 110 CUBA athletes whose average ages are 21.4 from five colleges of Harbin of Heilongjiang Province including Harbin Engineering University,Harbin Institute of Technology,Harbin Normal University,Northeast Forestry University and Harbin Institute of Physical Education,were measured.By the research about the current situation and characteristics of athlete engagement and the relationship of athlete engagement with coach leadership behavior and sport confidence,the following conclusion was drawn:(1)CUBA athletes in Harbin have good standard of athlete engagement and sport confidence.Coach leadership behavior with the highest scores is coach training guide behavior,and the lowest is autocratic behavior.(2)There is a positive correlation between the athlete engagement and the sport performance of CUBA athletes in Harbin.The higher the standard of athlete engagement of athletes are,the better the sport performance.(3)There are significant differences in each dimension of athlete engagement for CUBA athletes from different grades,different training years and different numbers of entries,which mainly manifests that both devotion and vitality dimensions of sophomore athletes are significantly higher than that of freshman athletes;the confidence dimension of athletes engaged in training more than five years is significantly higher than that of the athletes whose training years are less than five years;both confidence and enthusiasm dimensions of above first-level athletes are significantly higher than that of the below first-level athletes;theconfidence dimension of athletes participating in the competition more than three times is significantly higher than that of athletes whose times of participating in the competition are below three.(4)There is a significant positive correlation between coach training guide behavior,democratic behavior,social support behaviors,positive feedback behavior,sport confidence and athlete engagement of athletes.And there is a significant positive correlation between coach training guide behavior,democratic behavior,social support behaviors,positive feedback behavior and sport confidence.There is a negative correlation between trainers' authoritarian behavior and athlete engagement,sport confidence of athletes.(5)Coach leadership behavior can significantly explain 26.3% variance variation of athlete engagement.Coach leadership behavior can significantly explain 28% variance variation of sport confidence.The sport confidence can significantly explain 24.2% variance variation of athlete engagement of athletes.(6)The sport confidence plays a part of the intermediary role in the impact of the coach training guide behavior,democratic behavior,social support behavior and positive feedback behavior on athlete engagement.
