To study the paternalistic leadership behavior and its effects on "coach-athlete" relationship in Hubei province, this paper investigated 167 athletes (88 males and 79 females), coming from 14 athlete teams.The measurement of paternalistic leadership behavior was explored by using the modified Paternalistic leadership Questionnaire, which includes 3 dimensions: moral leadership, authoritarianism leadership, benevolence leadership. The measurement of "coach-athlete" relationship was explored by using the modified Coach-athlete Relationship Questionnaire (CART-Q), which includes 3 dimensions: Closeness, Commitment, Complementarity. With the help of the statistical of SPSS11.5, Factor analysis, Correlational, Descriptive Statistics, One-Way ANOVA and Multivariate Regression Analysis were used to verify the coach's paternalistic leadership behavior and its effect on "coach-athlete" relationship in Hubei province.The main conclusions include 3 aspects: (1) Hubei Province athlete perceived extremely obvious moral leadership, authoritarianism leadership, benevolence leadership, and they perceived very highly Closeness, Commitment, Complementarity. (2) athlete's Moral Leadership were predicted by Closeness, Commitment and Complementarity, the forecast was obviously positive; athlete's Benevolence leadership were predicted by Commitment; athlete's Authoritarianism leadership had no obvious prediction. (3) Demographic variable can affect athlete's perception of paternalistic leadership behavior. The affection of Sex, Age and years of training were extremely obvious.
