The current educational reform emphasize that student should be given prominence to the dominant position in teaching so as to promote their active engagement.Along with the rapid development of Internet technology,new techniques such as 3D Printing,Scratch,Arduino and other open source hardware and software platform have emerged,which make Makers Education rapid progress in primary and secondary schools.With the idea of John Dewey's ?learning by doing‘,it pays great attention to the cultivation of students' creative ability and practical ability,and requires students to actively participate in teaching activities.Student Engagement as an important index to measure the students‘ participation has important research value.Therefore,this paper starts with the Maker Education in primary school,investigates current student engagement in Maker course,understands the influencing factors of student engagement,and puts forward some improvement strategies and suggestions in order to have positive impact on Maker Education in primary schools and improve the teaching efficiency.This study first reviews the literature about Maker Education and student engagement,know about current research status and define related concepts.Secondly,according to the existing research,it designs the interview outline and questionnaire to investigate student engagement in Maker Education in primary school.Thirdly,it selects the research object,does the interview and questionnaire,knows about the student engagement in the three dimensions of behavior,cognition and emotion,and finds out some problems in the current teaching.Fourthly,it uses structural equation model to analyze the influencing factors,that is,individual students,teachers‘ teaching,teaching environment and family factors,and gets the corresponding model.Finally,based on the above analysis and problems in the current teaching,this study puts forward some relevant countermeasures and strategies.Through the above research,this paper draws the following conclusions:(1)The overall student engagement in Maker Education in primary schools is better,and behavior engagement and emotional engagement is slightly higher than cognitive engagement.At present,there are some problems in the teaching,differences in the distribution of the students‘ energy,lack of initiative in behavior participation,lack of effective strategies,low level of cognitive participation,lack of interest about the topic of Maker course and deviation of Maker Education.(2)From the four aspects of individual students,teachers‘ teaching,teaching environment and family factors,this paper makes a research about influencing factors of the Maker Education in primary schools and gets relevant models using confirmatory factor analysis,and understands the correlation between each influencing factors and the corresponding index and the correlation among the influencing factors.(3)Based on the current problems and the influencing factors,this paper puts forward some corresponding strategies and suggestions to improve engagement about Maker Education.For school,it should improve the hardware facilities,increase the courses of Maker Education,and set up a school-based curriculum.For teacher,they should actively participate the training seminars,pay attention to the application about learning strategy,rational arrange the exploration of the Maker course and set up the interesting subject.For students,they should stimulate students interest in Maker education and set up appropriate reward mechanism.For family,they should change the concept of parents about Maker Education and strengthen the cooperation between family and school.
