Child labor has been a major challenge facing the achievement of global goals, especially with relation to education and poverty.Despite the progress made with the elimination of child labor,it still remains a worrying problem, for the developing countries. The most affected region is the Sub-Saharan Africa with Ghana recording one of the highest rates of child labor. There are many effects of child labor on the society, the economy and the development of a nation. These effects are experienced through the direct consequences of child labor on the child.Basic education should be a universal right for any child. However, the engagements of children in child labor have denied children of education right, which could lead to long term negative effects on the child's development and welfare. The thesis investigates Ghana,as a case study with the greater use of qualitative method to explore into child labor's impacts on education,as a problem in the developing countries. This thesis argues that, the general effects of child labor leads to lower school attendance, worse academic performance and poorer educational outcome. From the IR perspective, child labor should be consequently considered as a security threat, and be resolved through the proper approach. At the author's suggestion,if securitization is applied to resolving child labor,it will be helpful to integrate and implement all the interventions available to mitigate child labor.
