| With the rapid development of science and technology,national scientific literacy plays an important role in the strength of a country’s soft power.As an important part of scientific literacy,chemical literacy has a great influence on the country’s soft power.Teenagers are the future of the country.Therefore,cultivating high school students’ chemical quality has a positive role in promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.In this paper,literature analysis is used to analyze the connotation of chemical literacy at home and abroad and the method of chemical literacy cultivation.Based on theories of life education theory,meaningful learning theory,constructivist learning theory and system theory,questionnaires and interviews were used to investigate teachers and students’ understanding of chemical literacy,the understanding of cultivating teaching materials for chemical literacy from life,teaching methods in the teaching process,the use of the methods,the life chemistry issues that students are interested in,the status of the Chemistry and Life module.At the same time,we use the common chemical phenomena and common chemical nouns in our life to examine the status of students’ chemical literacy.Research shows that teachers and students are not fully aware of chemical literacy.There is no awareness of cultivating chemical literacy in teaching.The teaching material of life has a time lag.Teachers and students have neglected the important role of Chemistry and Life in cultivating students’ chemical literacy and there are difficulties in the development of teaching activities.The teaching method is so simple that it makes students feel tired and cannot effectively cultivate students’ chemistry literacy.According to the survey,the textbook Chemistry and Life designated by the Ministry of Education was selected as the research vehicle.According to the relationship between the contents of chemistry textbooks and the students’ life,divide the contents of current textbooks for People’s Education,Jiangsu Education and Luke into three sections: Chemistry and Human Health,Chemical Materials in Life,Chemistry and Environmental Protection.The detailed analysis and comparison of the contents,presentation methods,and column settings of the three modules were carried out.Through analysis it is found that the contents of the three editions of the textbooks are closely related to students’ life,but they still have time lag.The types of columns are slightly more complex and may hinder student learning.In response to the existent problems,suggestions for improving the cultivation of chemical literacy are proposed from both theoretical and practical aspects.First of all,the paper clarifies the connotation of chemical literacy.By integrating relevant literature on the content of chemical literacy at home and abroad,it makes a more systematic and richer definition of chemical literacy from five aspects,in order to benefit the systematic and comprehensive understanding of teachers and students in the teaching process and cultivate chemical literacy.Secondly,the paper improves the content system of “Chemistry and Life” textbooks.Enriching chapter contents such as “food additives”,“correct use of drugs”,“improved air quality” and “refuse recycling,” and supplying the “chemical and cutting-edge technologies” section make it more contemporary and provide teaching materials that are close to students’ social life,in order to cultivate students’ chemistry literacy.Then,linking MOOC with the teaching of “Chemistry and Life” and using students’ scattered time to learn,a new way of cultivating chemical literacy will be established,so as to provide a guarantee for cultivating students’ chemistry literacy from life.Finally,the teaching method is changed in the teaching process.According to the characteristics of life-oriented teaching content,a variety of teaching methods are used to stimulate students’ interest in learning and guide students to apply their knowledge.It is a good way to cultivate students’ chemistry quality.In addition,in the form of special topics,the paper collects life-related teaching materials that are close to the student’s actual life,that are suitable for high school,and that are conducive to cultivating students’ chemistry literacy.At the same time,it will be classified to three topics like "Fun Chemistry","Green Chemistry" and "Hot Spot Chemistry".The teaching materials are used to design scientific organizations and teaching cases.So a teaching case library for training chemical literacy is constructed to provide materials for cultivating high school students’ life-oriented chemical qualities. |
