In recent years,higher education researchers do a lot of work on "how to teach students to learn efficiently".Today,more and more educators recognized that learning strategy is an extremely important mechanism in learning and directly affects the academic achievement of college students.Academic emotions and locus of control also have been proved to be closely linked with learning strategies,and they both play important roles in all aspects of learning activities.The university stage is an important period for a person to learn professional knowledge and skills and to develop his or her social abilities,especially for the students of university for nationalities.Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to find out relationship between negative academic emotion,locus of control and learning strategies and to improve the study efficiency of college students.On the basis of the previous studies,this study used the questionnaire and face-to-face interview to acquire the first-hand research data,then investigates the present situation and the relationship between negative academic emotion,the locus of control and learning strategies of college students in universities for nationalities.This has a positive practical impact for cultivating good learning habits,stimulate learning motivation of college students in universities for nationalities and improving their ability to use learning strategies reasonably,and ultimately raising the teaching effectiveness of ethnic higher education.This study adopts the “Negative Academic Emotion Scale ” which is a subscale of “College Students' Academic Emotion Scale” compiled by Gong Shaoying and Xu Xiancai,“IPC Scale “designed by Levenson and “Learning Strategies Questionnaire for College Student” designed by Zhao Junfeng.The internal consistency reliability coefficients of these three scales are as follows: 0.84,0.73,0.776.The sampling method of this study is the combination of stratified cluster random sampling and convenient random sampling.653 valid questionnaires were collected from 760 students of Northwest Minzu University,and the return rate was 85.9%.Then college students were interviewed using self-designed interview outline.According to the empirical material,the conclusions of the study are as follows:1.The negative academic emotion of students who are in university for nationalities is at medium level,which is 72.3% of the total.There is no significant difference in negative sentiment between different demographic variables.Among the six kinds of negative academic emotions,anxiety and boredom occur most frequently.When negative academic emotions occur,they appear a single pattern of emotion regulation and weak regulation ability.2.The locus of control of students who are in university for nationalities is at medium level,which is 70.8% of the total.There are significant differences in gender,major,single child or not,and parental education level.The male college students got higher scores on the locus of control than female college students.Science students tend to be more internal control than liberal arts students.Only children got the higher scores on the locus of control than those who are not only children.The higher the education level of a father,the higher the scores of his children on the three factors of internal control.The mother's education level only has significant difference in the subdimension of "influential others".3.The learning strategies of students who are in university for nationalities is at medium level,which is 67.4% of the total.There are significant differences in grade,learning achievement and mothers' education level.In the factor of grade,the difference between each grade is significant,and the score from high to low are: freshman,senior,sophomore,junior.Students who have better learning performance got higher scores in learning strategies as well.The mother's education level only has significant difference in the affective strategy factor,with increasing of mothers' education level the affective factor scores of their children increased as well.4.There is a significant correlation among negative academic emotion,source of control and learning strategies of college students,and the former two have some certain predictive effect on the latter.Negative academic emotion can predict learning strategies negatively,and the correlation coefficient between them is-0.179.The combination of negative academic emotion and the locus of control can predict 18.9% variation of learning strategy.The locus of control plays a partial mediating role between negative academic emotions and learning strategies.Based on the above results,combined with interviews with college students and actual situation of universities for nationalities,this paper systematically puts forward some useful advice and suggestions on improving learning strategies and its influencing factors from three aspects: students,teachers and schools.
