Education is the foundation of China.Compulsory education is an important component of China's education system and directly determines the development of Chinese education as a whole, and even relates to the prosperity of the China.China is a big agricultural country, and the rural basic education occupies a large proportion of the basic education in our county. However, with the accelerating process of urbanization in China, especially since China entered a new stage of urbanization,a large number of rural laborers have flown to cities, and school-age children with attached populations have also entered cities. As a result, there have been fewer school-age children in rural areas and the scale of rural schools continues to shrink. Also, more and more rural schools have evolved into small-scale schools, and rural primary schools have become more prominent as small-scale schools.However,small-scale schools in rural areas are the key to ensure that school-age children can study at school, especially this school in remote and impoverished areas. The development difficulties faced by small-scale schools in rural areas have aroused great concern from the government and the education sector. In order to study the development difficulties of small-scale schools in rural areas, this article conducts a field survey using rural primary schools in X city,Guizhou Province as the research object.Through the survey of 46 primary schools,we learned about the difficulties in the development of small-scale schools in rural areas in terms of the number of schools?education funds?teachers and school conditions. The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:First of all,the overall number of small-scale schools in rural areas is insufficient. Many small and medium-sized schools in rural areas were withdrawn during the adjustment of rural schools conducted by government departments in previous years.Fewer schools have caused more problems, for example, students are too far away from schools and the children's drop out rate increase.Second, the small-scale schools in rural areas lack funding of education. And inadequate funds of education directly lead to limited conditions for running schools in rural small-scale schools and the equality of teaching can't be improved.Furthermore, the rural small-scale schools don't have enough teachers. And it is mainly manifested in the aspects of older teachers?the lower education of teachers and the lower teachers' title. At last, the small-scale schools'conditions are poor and the infrastructures are behind. In view of the aforementioned difficulties of small-scale schools in rural areas, this article introduces the theory of educational equity?the theory of educational equilibrium and the theory of new urbanization,.And we analyzes the causes of these phenomena through multidisciplinary perspectives, and expand related discussions. Finally, this paper explores the educational value of small rural schools in the context of new urbanization?rural population's trends and spatial layout of small-scale schools in rural areas.Based on this,we put forward solutions to the current difficulties in the development of small-scale schools in rural areas.
