MARTIN A T(1926-2007),a famous scholar of higher education in the United States,ranks among the "Top Five Scholars in Higher Education",and his lifelong academic reputation in the world,the thought of higher education was acclaimed in the United States by scholars of the same period such as John Seiler Brubacher(1898-1988)and Burton R.Clark(1921-2009),and has become an indicator of the evaluation of the World Organization.Looking at the evolution of of Trow's thoughts,we can sum up his ideas in six theories.These six theories are related to each other and are presented by comparing the systems and development of higher education in Europe and the United States.Trow's six major theories show its dynamic thinking thread,building a complete system of thought,epoch-making historic significance.In 1957,Trow began to pay attention to the relationship between the government,the market and higher education.After years of accumulation,he proposed the famous stage of higher education development and development model after years of accumulation,which solved the problems of quality,equality and scale The dilemma of higher education has become a quantitative indicator of higher education by the UNESCO Statistical Yearbook gross enrollment rate(Gross Enrollment Rations)and international organizations to assess the progress of higher education an important indicator of the level.In the 1980s,it also innovatively put forward the stratification theory and leadership theory to break the shackles of predecessors' focus on the analysis of the relationship between-education system and personal status,and to introduce the social status dimension to analyze the social status and rank in the higher system,His leadership theory analyzes the main aspects of the principal's leadership by analyzing the relationship between the principal and the organization:judgment and execution.In the 1990s,the author put forward the theory of accountability,introduced the trust dimension and constructed the accountability bridge,and constructed the accountability model with the internal and external connections of the higher education system.Finally analyze the diversity of higher education in the 21st century.Although the six theories were put forward at different periods and have their own research context,the research emphasis has always been the relationship between the inside and outside of the higher education system,and has always been based on diversity.The important theoretical value and practical value contained in Trow's higher education ideology have far-reaching significance in promoting the modernization of Chinese higher education.In today's continuous promotion of modernization,it is necessary to use the historical perspective and the development perspective to analyze Trow's ideas and put the ideas put forward by Tory in the later years,especially the stratification theory,leadership theory,accountability theory and diversity perspective Applied to China's modern higher education practice.
