Extra-curricular tutoring refers to the education and training activities that are performed outside the formal school education to improve students' academic performance,including sending children to tutoring institutions.The content of tutoring is concentrated in the main curriculums of schools such as Chinese,English,and physics.The analogy is that school education is projected on the "shadow" outside the school and is therefore also called shadow education.Although the extracurricular tutoring exists like the shadow of school education,it has an important influence on school education.Because of this,the impact of extracurricular tutoring on school education has always been concerned by academics.Unlike previous studies,this article will use tutors,tutoring students,and tutoring parents as interviewees to collect data and try to analyze these data to try to Explain the way and influence of extracurricular tutoring participation in school education selection.This study uses Bourdieu's field and cultural capital theory as the analytical framework.It first analyzes the types of extracurricular tutoring.The study finds that extracurricular tutoring is divided into replenishment classes and promotion classes.Parents and students choose the main subject of the school and related experimental courses to cram.After participating in extracurricular tutoring,the student's knowledge of curriculum has been developed and improved,while learning habits,learning methods and learning status have improved.The students transferred explicit teaching content and implicit learning habits from extracurricular tutoring to school learning,which resulted in good learning performance and further good results in the school selection test.Extracurricular tutoring is based on the knowledge of the objective form of cultural capital and the transfer of physical forms of capital to student learning habits.It helps students learn useful things and learn what they will be tested,improve their test scores,and achieve institutionalized cultural capital.Certificates,access to academic earnings,and participation in school education selection functions.However,extracurricular tutoring emphasizes the ability to take examinations and aggravates the competition for educational resources,thus affecting the ultimate realization of balanced and high quality education.
