With the rapid development of Internet technology,Weibo,as one of the social media, quickly integrated into the daily life of college students. Its influence has led to extensive discussions between the academic and the industry from different perspectives. In recent years, the “echo chamber effect” has become an issue. The scope of research has gradually extended from the political domain to the new media field, and there have been more foreign research results than domestic ones. However, there are still some remaining issues that need to be resolved. For example, whether college students,as highly educated groups, have “echo chamber effects” in the process of using microblogs, and what characteristics and influences are reflected, these are all yet to be furthered.Questions of inquiry. Therefore, this paper analyzes the research on the "echo chamber effect" both at home and abroad in recent years, based on the theory of "echo chamber effect",using a combination of questionnaire and case analysis methods, and simultaneously applying the literature method and interdisciplinary research method to the data.To prove the existence of “echo chamber effect” in the use of microblogs by college students, and conduct a preliminary analysis of their characteristics and influencing factors, and further explore the impact of the “echo chamber effect” of microblogs on college students, and how to get rid of this effect.Strategies and recommendations. The study finds that there are indeed “echo chamber effects” in the process of college students' use of microblogs, and that “echo chamber effects” are not the same in different types of events and they are characterized by information homogeneity, exclusivity, and ethnicity. The factors influencing its production mainly come from the users themselves, the technical algorithms of the Weibo platform and the network navy. The phenomenon of "echo chamber effect" in microblogs will cause university students to have information narrowing, tilted value orientation,"silent spiral" effect and net polarization caused by group polarization. In this regard, the author believes that starting from the government, microblogging platform and college students should start with three aspects, and strive to avoid the "echo chamber effect" to create a harmonious and civilized network environment.
