An Empirical Study Of The Effects Of The Nutrition Improvement Plan On Education Attainment

Child development is very important for a country.There are huge difference between rural and urban area in China,especially in children's education filed.Many children can't afford enough to get balanced nutrition in the imporverished areas of West China.Government attached high importance to changing the situation.At the end of 2011,the Chinese government launched the Nutrition Improvement Plan for Rural Students in Compulsory Education.According to the flagship report which was published by China Development Research Foundation,the Nutrition Improvement Plan has achieved remarkable outcomes as physical health of rural students in poverty-stricken areas has notably.Students' physical health has remarkably improved in most provinces in the plan.Malnutrition and growth retardation among poor rural students are improving notably.According to a research,lung capacity has remarkably improved in monitoring county.It is shown that the Plan not only improves the students' physical health but also promotes the students' scores,such as math,Chinese and English.Although there are many valid discussions and research among the Nutrition Improvement Plan,few studied have looked into the interaction about the plan and the study results.This article plans to study the effect of the policy using empirical research method.The model of interaction between study results and the Nutrition Improvement Plan were analyzed with the help of China Family Panel Studies(CFPS).Difference in Differences Model and Ordered logit model were used in the research.The paper proves that effect of the Nutrition Improvement Plan on study results is positive.Influence by the plan was associated with a significantly higher test scores compared with not affected.This article consists of six chapters.The first chapter is introduction section.In this section,the research background of the policy impact of Nutrition Improvement Plan and the detail of the plan are discussed.The second chapter reviewed a variety of research both in China and foreign country.In chapter 3,the basic idea and the foundation of the model are discussed.And the data processing and model building are showed in chapter 4.In chapter 5 the article conduct an empirical analysis and discuss the outcome of the research.Chapter 6 is a summary of this paper including conclusion,innovation,and deficiency.
