With the loosening of restrictions on population mobility in the mid-1990 s,rural surplus labor began to flow into economically developed areas.Since 2000,the size of the floating population have increased significantly, and going out as migrant workers have become the main form of employment. The dynamic monitoring data of the floating population 2014 showed that the size of the floating population in China have reached 253 million,of which the new generation of migrant workers accounted for more than 50%.Resultly,a large number of left-behind children have been created.According to estimates from the data of the Sixth Population Census, the number of left-behind children in rural areas has reached 61,025,500.Recently,many sensational events happened to left-behind children have been reported in the news media, whose daily life and safety can't be guaranteed, and healthy growth is facing serious challenges.Studies about the conditions of migrant children and the influencing factors, provide theoretical evidence for the promotion of children's migraton.Due to the availability of data and the need for research issues, the dynamic monitoring data of the floating population in 2014 is used to examine the migration characteristics and influencing factors of the migrants' children.First, explore the migration characteristics of migrants' children using the descriptive statistics.Analyse how the sex ratio of migrant children and left-behind children, the proportion of migration, and the flow time vary with age,and how the proportion varies with the number of children, and the ratio of migrant children among the local children.Secondly, analyze the influencing factors of migration of migrants' children using the logistic regression model, and compare it's results with the stage of compulsory education to examine the robustness, and we have the robust estimation. And then, analyze the differences between rural-urban and urban-urban floating population. Finally, analyze the influencing factors of the number of migrant children and the number of children enrolled in local schools using the Poisson model, and compare the differences between the two populations and analyze the mechanism. As far as the problems and available database, this article analyzes the migration characteristics of migrants' children from multiple perspectives.According to the comprehensive analysis of the effect of various factors on children's migration using quatitative methods,we found:(1)The migration of migrants' children shows manycharacteristics. The sex ratio of left-behind children is slightly higher among primary and high school age groups. The more one family have, the higher the proportion of migrant children. The migration proportion of migrants' children from the marginal provinces is the highest.(2)The children's migration is closely related to parents' individual characteristics and their own.Parents' age has a negative effect on the number of children enrolled in the local school.Students in high grades are more likely to live and study in their hometowns. The number of children in the family has a negative effect on the migration of children in compulsory education.(3)Parental flow patterns have a significant impact on children's migration.Children whose parents live in the same city are more likely to migrate. In the form of region, the obvious difference between the rural and the urban is people who flow to the western regions tend to leave their children behind.(4)The odds ratio of children's migration and the average number of migrant children whose parents work in the manufacturing industry decreases significantly.Compared with those employed in the private enterprises, the odds ratio of the children in the self-employed family decreased significantly.
