Pedagogical Content Knowledge(PCK)is the main component of teacher professional knowledge,which directly affects the professional development level of teachers and it is also an important content of teachers' pre-service training.In recent years,the education of full-time Master of Education(M.Ed)has become a significant part of pre-service training for teachers.The development of PCK is conducive to the promotion of training quality of the M.Ed.The professional education of the M.Ed in Subject Teaching(English)is designed to cultivate high-quality and high-level teachers for English education in China,so it is particularly necessary to discuss the PCK.However,through the literature review,the author found that the overall PCK study of the M.Ed is less.Therefore,based on the existing research foundation of PCK,this paper further focuses on the current situation of PCK of the M.Ed in Subject Teaching(English),and purposes effective countermeasures to improve the mastery of PCK of the M.Ed in Subject Teaching(English).This is the starting point of the study.The study is conducive to the promotion of training quality of the M.Ed and the promotion of the professional development of the future English teachers.On the basis of existing research,this study investigated the status quo of the M.Ed in Subject Teaching(English)in five colleges and universities in Shaanxi Province from five dimensions of English target knowledge,subject knowledge,teaching strategy knowledge,situation knowledge,evaluation and self-reflection knowledge to analyze the status and problems of their mastery of PCK,and put forward the countermeasures to improve the PCK of the M.Ed in Subject Teaching(English).The results show that the mastery of PCK of the M.Ed on the whole is not optimistic.Among them,the M.Ed has weaker grasp of English target knowledge and better mastery of English evaluation and self-reflection knowledge.They have various degrees of deficiency in English subject knowledge,teaching strategy knowledge and situation knowledge.Based on the analysis,the author suggests that in the process of the training of the M.Ed,the universities and masters should take effective countermeasures from five dimensions to promote the mastery of PCK of the M.Ed in Subject Teaching(English),so as to promote their professional development.
