Research On Technology-empowered Situated Teaching

In recent years,situated teaching has gotten more and more attention and active exploration by researchers.However,there are still many challenges for developing effectively situated teaching in school.In fact,the space-time conditions of traditional conventional classroom teaching limited the design and implementation of situated teaching.It was difficult to link the student's learning to real life situations,which restricted the actual effect of situated teaching.The development of modern information technology is expected to boost the situated teaching under the school's circumstances,thereby enhance the effectiveness of situated teaching.The core content of this study is how to assign the implementation of situated teaching and its main influence.We focus on the following two research issues:(1)What is the space and approach of technical empowerment in situated teaching?(2)How is the effect of technical empowered in situated teaching?On the basis of reviewing the related research of situated teaching supported by information technology,we gradually studies from three aspects:(1)Summarizing the related theoretical points of situated teaching,especially the constituent elements of situated teaching;Analyzing the practical difficulties of situated teaching,and finding a feasible way to solve the problem of situated teaching in the view of technology;(2)Based on the analysis of the constituent elements of situated teaching,we construct framework and model of situated teaching for technological empowerment that include “three dimensions” and “seven spaces”.Introducing the types and methods of situated teaching for technological empowerment.Then,we give an example about WISE,a context-enabled online teaching environment.(3)We conducted a study of situated teaching which was “photosynthesis” in the context of the WISE network in a school in City A,to verify the operability of the context-enabled teaching model for technical empowerment,and to explore the actual effects and specificities of the situated teaching of technological empowerment.Based on the above research,we draw the following conclusions: First,information technology can empower situated teaching using three dimensions(situational dimension,task dimension,and supporting dimension),and seven space-elements(authentic context,expert performance,articulation,reflection,coaching and scaffolding,collaboration,and integrated assessment).Second,in the context of WISE-empowered situated teaching,the contextual teaching of technological empowerment should be based on the teaching effects and interest in knowledge understanding and migration.Situated teaching of technology empowered was significantly higher than control.In the teaching effect and learning motivation of the conventional topics,there was no significant difference between the situational teaching of technology empowerment and the control group.
