School choice mentioned in this study refers to the phenomena that during the stage of compulsory education,based on the educational level of the difference between schools and the high quality of education,parents of the students urgently purchase school district housing and so on,and parents privately bring the rural school children from the average level of academic lower placement to high resources which is relatively concentrated.Many parents and students want to pursue better academic achievements through school choice,so the practical problems are becoming more and more obvious."Big fish little pond " effect tells us that students will take the average academic achievement of their schools as a standard of comparison and reference.For the students with the same academic ability,those who go to school with higher average academic achievement will acquire lower academic self-concept than those who go to school with lower average academic achievement.In this study,we take 1136 junior high school students as subjects,using questionnaire on school choice and junior middle school students' academic self concept in the development of the "big fish little" effect and the relationship between the academic self concept in the development of "big fish little" effect of regulating factors.the results show:1,The average academic level of rural junior middle school students is lower than that of county junior middle school students.2,Junior middle school students who have experience of school choice are significantly lower than the same academic achievement of students,school choice students are obvious to "big fish little pond”effect.3,Grade of school choice students academic self concept in the development of the "big fish little pond " effect has the regulatory role of choice,the higher the grade,the academic self concept of "big fish little pond " effect is more obvious.4,Students with different grades have different gender differences in their self concept development.The better the academic performance of boys,the academic self concept of "big fish little pond" effect is more obvious,girls on the contrary.5,The "big fish little pond" effect in the development of academic self concept of choice students are differences in the personality characteristics,and for emotional,extroversion,and psychoticism students,the academic self concept of "big fish little pond " effect is more obvious.
