The multicultural education originated from American Civil Rights Movement during 1960 s.The primary goal of multicultural education is the pursuit of equal educational rights and opportunities of ethnic minority groups. The United States has become a nation of immigrants since more and more people of different groups immigrated into America for various reasons. Therefore,American school classrooms have become more diverse than before accordingly. However, besides the diversity of classrooms, the problem of achievement gap between ethnic minority students and their white peers attracts scholars' attention. In recent decades,on the improving measures of achievement gap from multicultural perspective, the research and comprehensive analysis are limited. This thesis tries to analyze improving measures of academic achievement gap mainly from three aspects: multicultural teacher education, curriculum reform and school reform.Through careful collection and analysis of secondary data and materials, this thesis draws a conclusion that the combination of multicultural teacher education, curriculum reform and school reform is an effective way to improve ethnic minority students' academic performance.Hopefully, the analysis of improving measures for ethnic minority students' achievement gap through multicultural perspective provides a deeper and more comprehensive understanding towards academic achievement gap as well as American multicultural education.
