Nowadays,with scientific progress and economic development,Chinese Culture and western learn from each other,culture exchange,intergrate and promote multually.However,China and western Countries maintain their own cultural characteristics,and present a situation of harmonious multicultural development.Nowadays,Every country lives in the multicultural background.America is similar to China,as a country of varied ethnic peoples with a long history.America and China are both big countries with traditional culture.Multiculturalism is an accumulated fortune in the historical process of social development.it has a national character,which different countries have different racial and ethnic culture.Education is a part of culture,is an important means of inheriting historical culture,and creates a new culture.At the same time,culture has a profound impact on education again.Education,always with the national culture,is to form the characteristics of national education.The United States is one of multi-national and multi-ethnic countries in the world.Cultural diversity is an important characteristic of its national culture,but because of its tradition and history,the ethnic education has been at a disadvantage condition.In the public school,teachers is white in the majority,and minority teachers are severe shortage.With the development of the civil rights movement,American education increasingly debate intensely on multicultural education,how to provide high quality education for minority ethnic children,and gradually improve the quality of education,which become the focus of attention.This article,under the understanding of American history and others' research achievements with methods of historical analysis,comparison,and literatural analysis,researcher on how the United States implements multicultural teacher education.Although different national conditions of China and the United States,in order to promote all-round development of students with different nationalities,languages,and cultural groups,at the same time,to keep the ethnic cultural characteristics,China should learn from American experience of multicultural teacher education to better cultivate good multicultural teacher.This article analyzes American multicultural teacher education development,theoretical basis,training objectives,curriculum,teaching strategies,and teaching practice.It also discusses the achievements of American multicultural teacher education,the main problems and development trends.It then concludes several revelations for Chinese multicultural teacher education which is based on the analysis of feasibility and applicability of multicultural teacher education in our country.Attaching great importance to the multicultural teacher training and strengthening the he consciousness of cultural diversity;Developing multicultural teacher education curriculum and enriching the contents of the course;Strengthening multicultural teachers training and paying attention to cooperation guidance;Enhancing the understanding of multicultural teacher education and guaranteeing teacher education;Implementing multicultural teachers training and cultivating international vision of teachers.
