Humanities and social sciences are important tools for mankind to understand and transform the world.Humanities and social sciences in colleges and universities enable students form a correct world outlook,outlook on life and values,which improve students’ moral cultivation and spiritual realm,develop scientific thinking habits,and promote the development of physically and mentally healthy and personality.However,the social morality of many highly educated citizens has been criticized by many people.The education of humanistic quality in colleges and universities has also been questioned.Therefore,it is necessary to conduct research on the function of humanistic social science education in colleges and universities.Based on the theory of comprehensive development of human beings and previous research,with science,time,and nationality in principles,this study established the evaluation index system for humanities and social sciences education from the four dimensions of curriculum setting,teacher activities,school resources,and student learning effectiveness.At the same time,through the establishment of evaluation criteria for the indicator system,this study used the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to evaluate university A and university B.The study shows that the educational function of humanities and social science disciplines in case universities has the following problems:(1)School-based elective courses in humanities and social sciences emphasize literary and art science,and disregard the disciplines such as philosophy and history.This problem cannot well integrate our country’s excellent culture into the humanities and social sciences system and give play to the role of cultural education,which is not conducive to the development of interdisciplinary education and the training of compound talents.(2)Humanities and social sciences teachers lack initiative in their interactions with students after class.Also,they have not been able to achieve the unity of teaching and educating people and teaching by precept and example that emphasized by Xi Jinping’s Philosophy and Social Science Education.(3)The number of learning platforms provided by colleges and universities is relatively small,the update speed is slow,and colleges and universities have little propaganda on network resources.However,the students in the case colleges think that their moral qualities are high and they can adapt to the development of the times and view things and problems in a global perspective.At the same time,they have a strong sense of national pride.They can also consciously love the party and the country and have the behavior of maintaining the party and the state.
