Construction Of Social Support Network For The Mentally Disabled Children Female Family Caregivers

Mental retardation is almost lifelong,and there is no effective treatment at present,which means that the mentally retarded people need long-term care.Influenced of gender division of labor in the family,the work of caring for people with mental disabilities falls on women.Mentally disabled children as part of the disabled groups,because of its young,need more women caregivers to invest more time and energy.The female caregivers is facing the pressure and problems in the process of long-term care.In the context of the imperfect social welfare protection policies in China,there are few people's concern and support for the female caregivers of mentally handicapped children.In this paper,under the guidance of theory of social support,take the service activities of female family caregivers of mentally handicapped children in Guangzhou D family integrated service center as the practical basis.It explains the feminization of family care for mentally retarded children in terms of gender theory.This paper uses literature study,questionnaire,interview method,observation method to analysis current situation and problems of social support network of mentally retarded children female family caregivers pressures facing difficulties in the process of care.On this basis,this paper makes a comprehensive use of social work methods such as case work,group work and community work to assist female caregivers of children with mental disabilities to build their social support network.It can help them form a multi-agent social support system to ease the pressure of care.And according to the practical research of this article,this paper combined with domestic and foreign policies and service experience to consummate the mentally disabled children social support network female family caregivers from the government,non-governmental organizations,communities,and social workers support main body aspect of the four main Suggestions.
