Our country attaches great importance to this group of intellectually handicapped children,and has formulated laws and policies related to the rehabilitation of intellectually handicapped children,and the rehabilitation of intellectually handicapped children has improved.However,caregivers of children with intellectual disabilities are often neglected.In the process of long-term care of children with intellectual disabilities,the recovery of children with intellectual disabilities is slow,and there is a gap between the expectations of the caregivers of children with intellectual disabilities and the actual situation,which leads to the pressure on the caregivers of children with intellectual disabilities.The social support that the caregivers of mentally handicapped children have can effectively help the carers of intellectually handicapped children relieve stress and rebuild hope for the future.Therefore,this paper mainly studies the social support network of caregivers of children with intellectual disabilities.This paper borrows the theory of social capital,uses field research methods to conduct research,collects relevant data and information of clients through interviews and observation methods,understands the current situation of social support for carers of mentally disabled children,and evaluates the needs of social support for carers of mentally disabled children.After investigation,it is learned that the client has insufficient social support in five aspects: community,special education school,self,family,and peer group,and the social support needs of the caregivers of mentally handicapped children are summarized into three aspects,namely emotional support needs,rehabilitation information support needs,and social communication support needs.Social workers use the case work method to intervene from the two aspects of bridging social capital and cohesive social capital of caregivers of children with intellectual disabilities,expand the social support network of caregivers of children with intellectual disabilities through case service activities,and improve the ability of carers of children with intellectual disabilities to use social support networks,learn to obtain the necessary social resources from the social network,and meet the social support needs of the caregivers of children with intellectual disabilities,so as to relieve the pressure of the caregivers of children with intellectual disabilities in caring for children with intellectual disabilities,and improve the ability to take care of children with intellectual disabilities.
