With the increase in the number of single parent families,single parent families of junior middle school students gradually attracted widespread attention from all social circles.Most of them have different degrees of multiple difficulties of growing up,the root causes of this phenomenon are the incorrect cognition of the self.If they are not able to establish an objective and comprehensive self cognition,their self-identity and interpersonal communication will be difficult,and then affect their lives and learning.This paper is in the case of a middle school in W City.Under the guidance of the group dynamics theory and the mirror self theory,starting from the group social work method,eight students from single parent families carried out series of group activities,to explore ways to establish correct self cognition.Firstly,the researcher carried out the survey on self cognition of junior school student,by means of questionnaire,interview and participatory observation.It is found that they need to build a comprehensive and objective self cognition from the aspects of physical self,academic self,emotional self and interpersonal self.Combined with evaluation of demand,on the basis of different members’ features,seven group activities are designed with the aim of building a comprehensive and objective self awareness.In each activity,the social worker presents the whole group process through the description of the group process,the description of the effect of the activity and the reflection,and makes an evaluation on the group activities according to the contents of the measurement results and interview.This study found that social work has a significant effect on the establishment of correct self cognition of junior middle school students in single parent families.Participating in group activities,members of low self consciousness was improved,and gradually close to the normal range.The group goal is basically achieved,the group work intervention in single parent families of junior middle school students’ self-cognition can be popularized.At the same time,social workers also reflect on the activities,summed up the inadequacies of the experience accumulated for future research.
