With consumption gradually replacing production as the center of social life,as a frontier issue in China's economic and social development,high-end residential consumption has increasingly become a new frontier and hot issue.Deeply carrying out sociological research on high-end residential consumption is very necessary for grasping the characteristics of the times in all aspects of economic and social development.From the perspective of segregation theory,it is of great theoretical value and practical significance to explore the cultural causes of high-end residential consumption in order to understand and interpret the transformation of consumption structure in contemporary society and further enrich and develop the theory of consumption sociology.On the basis of reviewing the current research situation and research trends at home and abroad,starting with the origin and differentiation of the high-end residential quarters,this paper explores the basic characteristics of the privacy,symbolism and segregation of the high-end residential quarters,traces back to the reasons for the rise of the high-end residential quarters consumption,and systematically explores the high-end residential quarters consumption from two levels of social structure and social psychology.Structural representation and psychological projection,analysis of the social consequences of high-end residential consumption,trying to explain the relationship between the middle class and high-end residential consumption,showing the logic of production and reproduction.The study finds that high-end residential accommodation has the characteristics of privacy due to its unique customization and exclusive service,and the symbolic meaning also makes the consumers who pursue face consumption and pay attention to the quality of life flock.The high price of high-end residential and residential consumption will be excluded from the lower class.High-end residential consumers are mostly middle class,they use high-end residential consumption to build their own partnership,family relations and social network;while the lower class audience and the psychological impact of competition,trying to imitate the lifestyle of the higher class through high-end residential consumption.With the improvement of living standards,more and more ordinary people are trying to enter this consumption field,causing higher-class consumption problems,which is the process of disenchantment of high-end residential consumption.In short,high-end residential consumption is not a conspicuous consumption,it is more a way for consumers to express their taste and pursue fashion.Although consumers gain a certain reputation for themselves through high-end residential consumption,unlike the upper class,it is not a leisure for time.On the contrary,it is a way of life for the middle class to relax their tired body and mind,and also an experiential consumption that seeks to integrate into nature and nostalgia.The continuous consumption enthusiasm of the middle class makes the high-end residential consumption continue.The partition characteristics of the high-end residential accommodation satisfy the middle clas's consumption psychology in a certain procedure.The mutual constructive relationship between the two promotes the high-end residential consumption to become possible.The process of production and reproduction is the charm of high-end home stay consumption.
