Research Purpose:This thesis aims to define the improvement effects of Swiss ball exercises on neck-shoulder muscular strength and flexibility,especially for those who are sedentary and always have a Pain on their necks and shoulders,hoping to find some solutions to improve or even cure neck-shoulder syndrome diseases.Methodology:After having a broad knowledge of related researches,the study is presented with two parts.The first part is about constitutional surveys in which all of the applicants are asked to finish some questionnaires and self efficacy scales to get their physical indicators.The second part is about experiences,designed according to our assumptions that it does make a difference between the experimental group and the control group when the experimental group exercises three times a week for continuous eight weeks with the use of swiss ball,while the control group doesn't exercise.Results:This piece of thesis measures a set of indicators to reveal the positive effects on their bodies after the experimental group exercises with swiss balls,compared with their physical indicators before the same group exercises with swiss balls.That is,compared with before,the amount of moderate physical activities after test is 28.8% higher(P<0.05),the amount of leisure activities 162.7% higher(P<0.05),the amount of total physical activities 20.1% higher(P<0.05),neck Pain 27.1% lower(P<0.01),shoulder Pain 36.2%lower(P<0.01),back Pain 32.7% lower(P<0.01),body mass index(BMI)7.3% lower(P<0.05),body fat content(BFC)9.1% lower(P<0.01),basal metabolic rate 3.4% higher(P<0.01),neck mobility 5.4% higher(P<0.05),shoulder mobility 23.8% higher(P<0.05),back mobility 7.5% higher(P<0.05),the optimal value of body anteflexion in sitting position 52.8% higher(P<0.01),the optimal value of grip strength 9.3% higher(P<0.05),and the optimal value of back strength 8.2% higher(P<0.05),than before.Conclusions:It is shown that the swiss ball exercises help improve the experimental group's health explicitly.Those data in this thesis perfectly supports the following conclusions:1.Swiss ball exercises help improve the body's stability and flexibility greatly.2.Swiss ball exercises help relieve those sedentary people of their neck and shoulder painswell.3.Swiss ball exercises make a good chemical proportion of human body.4.Swiss ball exercises also facilitate muscle strength.5.Swiss ball exercises have a significant effect on the flexibility and core stability of sedentary people.Suggestions:1.people who sit for a long time working should pay attention to exercise more to make sure their body gets necessary exercises,besides doing their work.2.Avoid bending over their desks working for a long time,and get some exercises relax in the work break.3.Companies and institutions should build up swiss ball exercise rooms to help their employees keep health.
