The Group Work Research On The Stress Relief Of The Parents Of Autistic Patients

Autism(or autistic disorder)is a kind of mental disorder that affects the basic social communication ability and the language expressive ability and often has onsets since patient's childhood,in the current medical conditions,this disorder may be accompanied by the patient's life.Parents of autistic patients need to take great responsibility to care their sick children and face multiple tests in both physiological and psychological aspect.According to incomplete statistics,China has about 2 million autistic patients.Due to the imperfect social security system,the low level of awareness of autism in the community and other reasons,there were few researches which focused and studied the parents of autistic patients,and in China there were even parents who strangulated their autistic children to seek the extreme relief.Autistic patients always face a considerable amount of stress from different levels and can not relieve all the stress by themselves.Therefore,the status quo currently facing the parents is a research window in this paper.The research subjects of this paper are the parents of autistic patients and this paper aims to relieve the psychological stress of parents of autistic patients and to meet their needs and cultivate their self-problem-solving ability.By taking an autism rehabilitation institution as a platform,through the questionnaire investigation,informal interviews and other forms,the author understood the stress facing the parents of autistic patients,and analyzed the practical significance of all kinds of stresses and their impact on family and society,and also understood the relationship between demand and stress.The main objective is divided into several subgoals in different stages,and this study used social work program design and organized some small activities under the guidance of social work,and recruited autistic patient parents with the intention to be participants as team members for 6 phases of group activities.The members of all groups were parents of autistic patients and they were first caregivers.In the selection of the contents of the group activities,social workers perfectly combined the parents' needs and the existing conditions of the platform,and also trained the parents and taught them by a series of activities,such as mood-easing and autism knowledge-learning courses,on-site teaching for autism patients training and family counseling,inter-members experience exchange for child care,parent-child interaction and other topics,these activities were both dynamic and stationary and diverse in forms.The 8 group members had an overall higher degree of participation and the group activities got a relatively smooth progress.The group work model provides effective help for parents of autistic patients,and also meets their needs and releases the stress to a certain extent.Group activities allow parents to relax and relieve tension,and all team members can also learn a professional knowledge of autism and skills about how to provide counseling for autistic patients,and they also get a preliminary understanding about how to provide family counseling for autism patients.The group form can provide members with a unique sense of.group support,which can alleviate the negatively "isolated and helpless" attitude of parents.In the process of sharing parenting experience,compared to their own parenting behavior,these members can get another perspective to view the life,so as to inspire them to participate in the rehabilitation process of children.
