Geometric Visualization is one of the ten core concepts put forward in the 2011 edition of the Mathematics Curriculum standard of compulsory education.Since its presentation,this concept has been widely valued by mathematics education scholars and frontline teachers.Mathematics is an abstract subject,and primary school students are often confused about mathematical concepts,mathematical operations and complex problem solving in the course of learning.The visual infiltration of geometry into the teaching of number and algebra has changed the traditional teaching methods which pay much attention on results rather than the process,and the students know it and know the reason in their study,and have cultivated the students 'thinking ability,and also aroused the students ' interest in learning.In this study,the connotation and educational value of geometric visualization concept are summarized and clarified through the literature survey method.Then text analyses were carried out to comb the geometric visualization in the content of number and algebra in the primary school mathematics teaching materials of the PEP version.On these bases,in order to investigate the application of geometric visualization in the teaching of number and algebra in primary school,the 3-6 grade students and mathematics teachers of Y School in Xiamen are investigated by questionnaire.This paper deeply analyzes the problems existing in the current geometric visual teaching from the perspective of the students ' learning and the teachers ' teaching.The results show that there are many problems with the students:(1)There is not enough understanding of geometric visualization,(2)the consciousness of using graphic in understanding questions is not obvious,and(3)the ability of using graphics to solve problems in learning is not strong.In the teachers' side,although most teachers in the teaching of the infiltration of geometric visualization awareness is more obvious,and often use geometric visualization to assist teaching,but there are still some teachers failed in thoroughly understanding the concept of geometric visualization.Finally,according to the combing of geometric visualization in the content of number and algebra in the primary school mathematics teaching materials of the PEP version,and the analysis of the survey results of students and teachers,about their understanding and application of geometric visualization,this paper puts forward the strategies of applying geometry visualization in the teaching of number and algebra.These strategies include the applicationstrategy in concept teaching,the application strategy in computational teaching and the application strategy in problem solving.This study has certain reference value for the geometric visualization teaching of frontline teachers.
