Liang Zhangju was born in Fuzhou in 1775,under the reign of Qianlong,and died in Wenzhou during the reign of Daoguang.He had a lot of literary names,among which Tui'an was used most often.Mr Liang was a poet,scholar,literator,and calligrapher who was proficient in epigraphy.During his lifetime he wrote over eighty works,among which Inscriptions of Paintings Works Collected by Tui'an contains art collection,aesthetic appreciation,textual criticism and art analysis.Based on the book,this paper focuses on the origin and makes a comparative study of this book and Inscription by Tui'an.By summing up and sorting out the art collections of Mr Liang and ways of collecting,the paper seeks to reveal his collecting progress.This paper also elaborates on the relationship of Mr Liang and Weng Fanggang,Ruan Yuan,Lin Zexu and Tao Shu of his time and the literati circle inspireded by Mr Liang's art collecting during the reign of Jiaqing and Daoguang.In the end the paper summarizes the characteristics of Mr Liang's inscription and and illustrates his perspective on calligraphy.This paper is followed by A Brief Chronicle of Liang Zhangju,which is based on Chronological Autobiography of Tui'an and helpful to learn about his life.
