As a friendly neighbor of China,South Korea belongs to the Chinese cultural circle.In 2012,China and South Korea officially launched the CPIK program,and Chinese language teaching has developed rapidly in primary and secondary schools across South Korea.Chinese teaching in South Korea is influenced by the English teaching,and mainly adopts the cooperative teaching mode.Under this background,the author has to volunteer as Chinese teachers for one year in order to understand the Chinese learning situation for Korean junior high school students.This collaborative study investigates and presents different features of various stages of learning,specifically learning motivation,learning strategy,every day performance,and overall student achievement of Seo Daegu Middle School students learning Chinese.The first chapter is the introduction,which explains the reason for the selected topic,its research significance and determines research methods on the study of the current South Korean Chinese teaching situation.The study investigates the students' learning progress by analyzing their learning motivation,learning strategy,their day to day performance,and their overall academic attainment.The second chapter introduces the situation of Chinese teaching in Daegu and specifically,in Seo Daegu Middle School in South Korea.It mainly introduces the Chinese curriculum and the school's rubric for evaluation,the teaching staff and their teaching modes,the composition of learners,and the content of Chinese teaching in Seo Daegu middle school.The third chapter contains the questionnaire design and interview on the basis of theories such as the cooperative teaching mode,the category characteristics of their learning motivation and the category characteristics of their learning strategy.In the fourth chapter,based on the investigation and research,the author uses the scientific data processing method to analyze the Chinese learning situation of learners in different learning stages,and summarizes the characteristics of Chinese learning of middle and middle school students in Seo Daegu Middle School.The fifth chapter analyses Seo Daegu Middle School Chinese language learners during different stages of their learning,and analyzes the changes as well as thereasons or the changes that happen in their learning and academic performance.Suggestions for improvement will also be made in response to those specific observations of change.The sixth chapter is the conclusion of this study and the author will put forward some general suggestions for Korean schools and Korean Education Department on the basis of individual experiences,observations and investigations.
