The purpose and needs of students to learn Chinese are important prerequisites for the organization and design of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Verde,which was founded in 2015,faces many problems such as low learning interest and weak promotion of Chinese teaching.Analysis of learning needs and motivation of students can effectively target teaching and improve teaching efficiency.The study objects were Chinese learners from 8 middle schools in the Confucius Institute of UNICV.Students were asked two questionnaires and accepted long-term interviews and observations by using dynamic system theory.The first questionnaire was conducted at the beginning of the second semester,about 320 students at 8middle schools were surveyed,then improvement measures were proposed.The second questionnaire was conducted at the end of the third semester,185 students at 8middle schools were thoroughly investigated.And comparative analysis to verify the effectiveness of the measures.Combined with multiparty interviews,observations and teaching practices,I systematically summarized the learning motivations and needs of the students of the Confucius Institute at UNICV.In general,students' integration motivation and instrumental motivation are weak.The key points of language learning in interest classes are interests and needs,which cannot be met at the current society in Cape Verde.Through a comparative analysis of the two questionnaires,it was found that the student's motivation ratio has decreased,and the sense of achievement in learning Chinese was lost.The vast majority of students have no intuitive feelings about China and have no interest in what is happening in China or in the outside world.Simply propaganda and display of China's modern culture,economic development,science and technology in the classroom were not effective.The elective status and demand for Chinese language courses will not change for the one time.Chinese modern cultural works need time to further optimize and expand the international market.The only thing that can be improved is the teaching and evaluation system.To give full play to the potential of curriculum,cultural activities,assessment and evaluation,and value teaching quality.Do not rush to achieve success,accumulate strength.Waiting for opportunities,and trading space for time.
