In recent years,educational games formed by the combination of video games and education have attracted more and more scholars' attention.Educational games can enhance learning enthusiasm and enable learners to gain more learning experiences,which are irreplaceable for the overall development of learners.Experts and scholars from different countries and different institutions have conducted in-depth exploration of educational games from different scientific research perspectives and made important contributions to the development of educational games.This paper uses bibliometrics to conduct cross-disciplinary research on educational games,and uses Citespace visual analysis software to systematically analyze relevant literature information in the field of educational games in the world from 2008 to 2017,and provide relevant evidence for the future research work of educational games.First,through the research and analysis of "countries/regions","research institutions" and "high-yield researchers",the distribution maps of countries/regions,authorities and high-yield researchers of educational game research are obtained.It is clear that the research subjects in the world of educational games are mainly concentrated in North America and Europe.Secondly,through the research and analysis of "high-frequency keywords","keyword clustering" and "keyword evolution",the high-frequency keywords,high-centric keywords,keyword classification and the evolution of influential keywords are obtained.This reveals the hot content and evolution of the world education game research in 2008-2017.The educational game research content is gradually detailed and the application field is expanding.Thirdly,through the "analysis of the literature","analysis of research institutions","analysis of high-yield researchers" and "analysis of high-frequency keywords",a comparative study on the development status and hotspots of educational games in China and the United States in the past decade has been carried out.Overall,the development of educational games in both countries has shown a steady growth trend.The number of educational game research institutions and high-yield researchers in the United States is higher than that in China.American researchers focus on the deeper factors such as evaluation and academic performance of learners.Finally,it is concluded that there are certain time and space differences in the research of educational games at home and abroad,there are normative gaps,and there are differences in the scope of research topics.This paper hopes to project shortcomings of the development of domestic educational games through the research on the development status and frontier situation of educational games in the world,as well as the domestic and international comparative analysis in this field,and provide some reference for the future research and development of educational games in China.
