Following the coming period of digital world,more and more households are available for digital tools which will be directed primarily towards domestic entertainment ?interpersonal communication and family education,such as mobile phone ? tablet PC and digital TV.etc.In today's context,too much children are exposed to digital tools,and the roles played by parents are either guidance or restriction.The study divides parents' roles based on different behaviors to children's use digital tools and take parents' roles as a breakthrough point to explore how parents' roles impact on children's approaches toward learning during the use of digital tools.This paper mainly adopts methods combining literature research and observation to determine the classifications and features of parents' roles during the use of digital tools,the questionnaires of which are made towards 160 parents with children in 5-6years old,and in conjunction with the parents rating scale of children's approaches toward learning,the study makes a conclusion after collecting and analyzing the data about parents' roles and children's approaches toward learning.The study finds that approaches toward learning of surveyed children are overall good,among which the best dimension is curiosity and interest,and reflection and explanation is under a low level.Approaches toward learning does not differ significantly on age but on gender especially in Initiative aspect,girls' five dimensions in total scores are higher than that of boys.Different roles parents played lead in distinct approaches toward learning,participation-oriented family is superior to laissez-faire and regulatory ones.The variance analysis shows that children in different parental roles differ greatly in two dimensions:creation and invention ?reflection and explanation,but not that significant in other three dimensions:initiative ? curiosity and interes ? perseverance and attention.According to the conclusion,suggestions are given to children's proper use of digital tools and the improvement of children's approaches toward learning in view of parents and kindergarten.
