In the wave of higher education enrollment expansion policy,China's higher education has developed rapidly.At present,it has entered the stage of popular education.The trend of popularization is showing day by day.This change not only increases the number of students,but also enriches and diversifies the types of students.Paying attention to the types of college students in the post-popularity era has very important theoretical and practical significance for promoting students'development and improving the quality of higher education.The output of higher education is students,and the development of students is an important index to measure the quality of higher education.Therefore,more and more voices about questioning the quality of higher education in society can not be ignored.In the era of elite higher education,the objects of higher education are relatively simple and the types of students on university campuses are relatively single;but in the period of popularization and post-popularization,the system of higher education is becoming more and more complex.How to scientifically explore the diverse types of College Students'groups in the complex higher education environment,fully understand the diversity and complexity of students' groups,so as to better understand the diversity and complexity of students' groups.To teach students in accordance with their aptitude and to improve the quality of higher education are the themes of current higher education research.At present,most of the research on the types of college students in China is based on students' academic achievements and ideological education,but it does not pay attention to the students' own learning process,and the degree of learning engagement is an important factor affecting the development of students.Therefore,this study mainly takes the degree of learning engagement as an entry point of view,and carries out the research on students'types on the basis of it,so as to further explore different types of students.The similarities and differences of learning engagement and learning outcomes.In the process of collating the literature of the research status at home and abroad,the core concepts are clarified step by step,and the design and ideas of this study are sorted out.Based on Astin's theory of student participation and Kuhn's theory of learning engagement,this paper constructs the basic analytical framework of this study.Thus,relevant data are obtained through questionnaire survey,and students'types are studied according to the ideas of research design.On the one hand,the degree of learning engagement can be regarded as an index to evaluate the quality of higher education,on the other hand,it can be used as a new starting point to study the types of students.From the perspective of student engagement,this study conducts a type study on College students.By issuing paper-based questionnaires to 547 undergraduates in three grades of H University,according to their performance in learning engagement,this study uses cluster analysis method to study what types of students exist in H University,and to study the background characteristics of different types of students in gender,grade,specialty,family residence and so on.Describe,then describe the degree of learning engagement of various types of students through data analysis,as well as the learning gains brought by different learning engagement,and put forward pertinent suggestions according to the conclusions of the study.The results are as follows:(1)There are six types of Undergraduates in H University:(2)the proportion of six types of students is not balanced;(3)there are significant differences in learning engagement among six types of students;(4)there are significant differences in learning outcomes among different types of students;(5)there are differences in satisfaction and belonging among six types of students.According to the results of the study,in order to improve stuaents' investment in leaning,the following suggestions are proposed:first,attach importance to the learning process and improve students' input;second,respect the differences between students and conduct classified guidance;third,strengthen teacher-student exchanges and effectively improve teacher-student interaction.
