In Chinese teaching,the most important thing is to figure out the nature of the Chinese subject for that it can provide reference for the study of Chinese core competence and point out the right way on Chinese teaching.Since 1920,the study of Chinese language education in our country,whether it is the presentation of official documents or academic discussion,the nature of Chinese subject in discussion has never been stopped;teachers can't figure out the nature of Chinese subject either.Reviewing the description of Chinese subject over 100 years in Chinese curriculum standard in different perspectives such as sociology and pedagogy which could help us to make more clear what progress we have made and where we should try harder to do better.In addition,this study will also combine the primary school teachers' and students' perceive for the nature of Chinese subject,reflects on the fact that Chinese teaching practice is out of line with curriculum standards,after all these work have been down,we can find out how the character of Chinese subject evolved.Reviewing the evolution process of concept of Chinese discipline over century the instrumental features run through the whole process,that is,relying on language and characters and making hard to apply what one has learned into practice,which is the pursuit of Chinese teaching over one hundred years.Since the beginning of the new century,the description of the characteristic of thought has been replaced by humanity which has more implications.Therefore,the unity of instrumentality and humanism is a relatively complete generalization of Chinese subject at present.Students' cognition of Chinese subject could directly affects their learning and application of Chinese,while teachers' cognition of Chinese subject could directly affects Chinese teaching construction.By means of questionnaire survey and interview,students and Chinese teachers were surveyed about their cognition towards Chinese subject.The results show that the students' awareness of Chinese subject can basically achieve the unity of instrumental and humanism,the teachers in the teaching is getting more and more close to the essence of language,teaching can also go further towards spirit which the curriculum demand.Chinese teaching and construction will face many challenges.However,with the deepening reform of basic education and the continuous development of society,the humanistic connotation of Chinese discipline will become richer,and the instrumentality and humanistic in Chinese discipline will be better integrated.
