The Asian Games is held by rotating members of various Olympic Councils in Asia.It is held every four years and has been held for 18 times since 1951.It is the largest comprehensive event in Asia.Its competitive level fully demonstrates the highest level of Asian competitive sports and promotes the continuous development of Asian sports.In the Asian Games,the gold medals in the track and field competitions are the largest,with a total of 48.The number of such gold medals will undoubtedly cause fierce competition among various countries.Therefore,all countries have developed track and field as a very important part of the competitive sports.Based on the analysis of the achievements and attribution of the top 8 athletes in the track and field events of 16th-18 th Asian Games,,this paper presents the overall spatial distribution of Asian track and field events by using Arc GIS geographic mapping software,and analyses the speed,endurance,fast strength and all-round events of Asian track and field events from the overall competitive level and the highest competitive level of the region.According to the overall situation of Asian track and field events and the distribution of competition pattern of all kinds of events,this paper grasps the distribution characteristics of the current Asian track and field sports layout,analyses the advantages,potential advantages and disadvantages of Chinese track and field in the Asian Games,and grasps the competitive level of Chinese track and field in the Asian Games,which is conducive to the coordinated and balanced development of Chinese track and field events and promotes the development of Chinese field.The improvement of athletic strength of track and field sports has certain theoretical and practical significance.The results show that:(1)The regional regionalization characteristics of the Asian Games track and field project are obvious,showing obvious unbalanced phenomenon.Athletics all items the spatial distribution of competitive strength shows that there is a decreasing situation in East Asia,the West Asian region is the strongest,the competitive power in South Asia is middle,and the competitive strength of Central Asia and Southeast Asia is weaker.(2)The competitive strength of different groups of track and field events in the Asian Games also shows obvious regional characteristics.The spatial distribution of speed events shows the trend of decreasing from East Asia,West Asia to Central Asia.The competitive strength of speed events in East Asia and West Asia is stronger;the spatial performance of endurance events is the strongest in East Asia and West Asia,followed by South Asia and Central Asia,and Southeast Asia.The competitiveness of endurance projects is weak;the rapid strength projects show a decreasing trend from East Asia,West Asia to Central Asia and finally South Asia,and East Asia shows the strongest competitiveness;among all-round projects,East Asia has the strongest strength,followed by Central Asia,South Asia and South-East Asia,while West Asia has the weakest strength.(3)There exists a phenomenon of inconsistency between the overall regional level and the distribution of the highest level in Asian track and field events.The overall level of speed sports in East Asia is higher than that in West Asia,but the highest level in West Asia is higher than that in East Asia;the overall level of endurance sports in East Asia is higher than that in West Asia,but the highest level in West Asia is higher than that in East Asia;the overall level of all-round sports in East Asia is the highest,but the highest level in Central Asia is higher than that in East Asia.
