Corporal punishment is an educational means commonly applied in the education process to rectify students' misconduct.However,the understanding of corporal punishment education has always been at issue,whether it is from teachers or students,or even from the whole society.This paper focuses on the present situations,problems and effects concerning corporal punishment from different aspects and different groups through research methods like literature analysis,questionnaire survey,interview method and case analysis.As the results of comprehensive literature analysis turn out,there are many ways of educational punishment.The methods of corporal punishment are mainly divided into two categories,namely,physical punishment and direct contact with the body.The former includes punitive labor,punitively standing outside the classroom,Punitive copy work and etc.The latter consists of slapping and beating.The results of questionnaires and interviews for teachers,students and parents show that the recognition of corporal punishment of teachers to students of different ages and genders is significantly different.Most students agree that the purpose of punishment is to enhance them,but the dissatisfaction caused by the punishlent will not completely subside over time.Most parents agree that teachers should punish their children to correct their wrong behavior.In the process of implementing corporal punishment education,teachers have certain problems,including the understanding of the concept of corporal punishment and related laws,and are hindered by external pressures,such as social media propaganda,attitudes of education authorities,education regulations,Attitudes from parents and students,and so on.In addition,the teacher's own emotional state,the lack of understanding of the student's personality,temperament,family situation and other reasons will also affect teachers to conduct corporal punishment education to a certain extent.Further case studies reveal the meaning of corporal punishment education,which helps to find appropriate corporal punishment methods and principles to perform..This paper demonstrates the need for corporal punishment in middle school and suggests how teachers should exercise disciplinary power and the principles that should be mastered in the process of corporal punishment.
