Research On The Service Mode Of Social Work For The Homecare Of Mental Retarded People

The rehabilitation and assistance of the mentally handicapped is an important issue in the process of social construction and development in China.According to the data of the second national sample survey of disabled persons,by the end of2010,the total number of disabled persons in China was 85.02 million,among which 5.68 million were intellectual disabled,accounting for 6.7%.If you compare that with the total population,then one in 246 Chinese is mentally handicapped.Mental retardation is not only more stigmatized than physical disability,but also has a greater knock-on effect on families.Most people with mental retardation are diagnosed as infants and young children,requiring family care for years to decades.From the current situation in China,family care has always been the most important and core way of care for people with intellectual disabilities.The rehabilitation and growth of people with intellectual disabilities are closely related to their families,and the individual problems of people with intellectual disabilities are inseparable from their family problems.In the past social work intervention,social workers mainly focused on individuals with mental disabilities and tried to provide them with rehabilitation,economic,educational and interpersonal services.However,social workers have not paid enough attention to the families and caregivers of people with mental disabilities.As a matter of fact,the long-term heavy care work has brought huge burden to the family.The caretakers,mainly parents,are always under both physical and mental pressure,and they are in urgent need of attention from the state and society as well as professional services from social workers.At present,the professional work of Chinese social workers for people with intellectual disabilities is mainly carried out from the two conceptual dimensions of "normal-special" and "environment-individual".Based on different theoretical presuppositions,researchers adopt the perspectives of advantage,energy enhancement,social support and ecological theory respectively.However,these four perspectives fail to consider problems from the perspective of family orientation and neglect the integrity and diachrony of social work services in the actual intervention,which leads to the one-sided,short-sighted and fragmented service and other phenomena.This study advocates that social workers should take the family of people with intellectual disabilities as the research object,and consider and intervene in the rehabilitation and growth of people with intellectual disabilities from the perspective of family life cycle.Based on the new research Angle of view,in this paper,the intellectual disabilities into the family life cycle phases,analysis of the intellectualdisabilities families with tasks in each stage of the problem,points out the social work service continuity,undertake sex,mutual exclusivity and causation etc.,on this basis,further proposed the intellectual disabilities new ideas and new mode of social work service.
