Mental disorder is also called low intelligence. It is a kind of congenital or acquired causes of complex diseases. Mental retardation is not only a serious disease which is harmful to people’s physical and mental health, but also a serious social problem. According to statistics, there are four intellectual disabilities in1000people in China. Almost all of the mental retardation happened during the period of infants and early childhood. Caregivers spend in looking after the mental retardation a decade or more.Long-term hard work damaged the physical and mental health of caregivers.But in the traditional concept of health, healthy care workers often focus on the rehabilitation of intellectual disabilities instead of family caregivers’pressure and pain. This article will focus on the social and psychological demand of family caregivers. The writer have designed the professional social work service plan in order to meet the psychological demand and interpersonal communication demand and social demand. The author hopes intellectual disabilities family caregivers will benefit from the social work service, which can relieve their psychological press and encourage the caregivers support each other and encourage each other, then establish self-confidence and sense of belonging. Therefore caregivers mutual support networks will be set up, and caregivers will learn more about care skills about cultivation of intellectual disabilities through the explanation of medical rehabilitation personnel.
