Our society pays more and more attention to the ability of talents.The meaning of ability is extensive.The ability mentioned in this paper refers to the ability to apply natural science and relevant knowledge to real life gradually developed by middle school students in the process of learning natural science under compulsory education.It consists of three basic dimensions: explain phenomena scientifically,evaluate and design scientific enquiry,interpret data and evidence scientifically.At present,the measurement of students' academic achievements in science in school education is still based on their course scores,while the paper scores sometimes do not match with their abilities,which inspired researchers to study the abilities behind the scores.In recent years,family background has drawn much attention as a factor influencing academic achievement.Through literature research and questionnaire survey,this study used SPSS20.0 statistical tool to conduct descriptive statistics,one-way analysis of variance,cross table analysis,correlation analysis and other quantitative processing of the survey results,in order to understand the relationship between the scientific ability of middle school students and various factors of family socio-economic status.The results show that there is a correlation between family socioeconomic status and students' scientific ability:1.There is a significant correlation between parents' education level and children's scientific ability;2.Parents' educational expectations on their children play a partial mediating role in the relationship between parents' educational level and children's scientific ability;3.There is a significant correlation between parents' professional prestige and children's scientific ability;4.Family economic income has a certain impact on children's scientific ability;5.Micro factors in family socioeconomic status are important variables affecting children's scientific ability.
