As an important part of education, family education is more and more concerned by academia. From the perspective of family human capital, based on Bourdieu's capital theory and new human capital theory, this paper uses the data from the2014-2015 academic year of the China Education Tracking Survey(CEPS)to examine the direct impact of family socioeconomic status on the development of children's cognitive abilities.Influence, and examine the moderating effect of parental care on the socioeconomic status of the family influencing the development of children's cognitive abilitiesThe study found that:(1)The socioeconomic status of the family affects the development of the cognitive abilities of the offspring. In the stage of compulsory education, the socioeconomic status of different families has significant differences in the development of the cognitive abilities of the offspring. For every 1 unit of socioeconomic status of the family, the child's cognitive ability will increase by an average of 0.06 units(2)Under the condition that other factors remain unchanged, parental care plays a significant positive role in the development of child's cognitive ability. For every additional unit of care time, the cognitive abilities of offspring will increase by an average of 0.016 units, but it has a certain marginal effect.(3)Parental care plays a regulatory role in the process of family economic status affecting the development of children's cognitive abilities.Under the condition that other factors remain unchanged, for each additional unit of interaction between parental care and the socioeconomic status of the family, the cognitive ability of the offspring will increase by an average of 0.006 units.(4)The results of heterogeneity analysis show that there is a certain degree of heterogeneity in the impact of family socioeconomic status and parental care on the development of children's cognitive abilities.Among them, the moderating effect of parental care is better for girls than boys, and only children are better than non-normalities.Only children and cities are better than children in rural areas.Based on the above research findings, this article proposes policy recommendations to promote the development of children's cognitive abilities:(1)The government's educational resources should be reasonably inclined to rural areas, and develop fair and quality education.(2)Parents can make up for the gap in the development of children's cognitive ability caused by the difference in economic andsocial status of the family by establishing a correct family education concept and taking good care of it.(3)Schools should change the concept of education and promote the development of students' cognitive ability by adding relevant courses. This article discusses the mechanism of the impact of family economic status on the development of children's cognitive ability, and provides theoretical support for further exploring the impact of family socioeconomic status and parental care on the development of children's cognitive ability. The empirical evidence provided in this paper provides a wealth of data support, which can be used as a reference for how to carry out good family education and improve the cognitive ability of offspring.
