| Teacher’s caring for students is not only a kind of life state in teacher-student relationship,but also a means of contact and communication between teachers and students.It will affect their involvement in the classroom.Generally,their caring behaviors can be classified into three types: conscientious behavior,supportive behavior and inclusive behavior.Students’ involvement in the classroom will be reflected through their level of learning engagement,which is measured in three different aspects: student behavior,cognition and emotion.For the time being,studies on teacher’s caring mainly emphasize the necessity of teachers’ caring behavior,focusing more on “quantity” than the “quality” of teacher caring behavior.Furthermore,most researchers study more on the influence of teacher to student while ignoring student’s influence on their teachers.Therefore,this study attempts to explore and discuss the influence of students’ involvement on teachers’ caring behaviors by means of investigating the status quo of the student involvement and their teachers’ caring behavior,so as to reveal the factors that affect teachers’ caring behavior,and put forward optimizing suggestions for teachers’ conducting caring behaviors.This study mainly focus on the influence of student involvement on teachers’ caring behavior.By means of questionnaire,579 students from four grades of three nine-year education schools in Shanghai are investigated to find out the status quo of their study involvement and the teachers’ caring behavior perceived by them.According to the results of the survey and the interview with the participants,the influence of student involvement on teachers’ caring behavior is analyzed and the factors are discussed.The following conclusions are drawn: 1)The degree of student involvement in learning significantly affects the caring behavior of teachers;2)Student’ seriousness about learning has a holistic impact on teacher care behavior;3)students’ inefficient learning does not affect teacher care behavior;4)Students’ expressed interest in learning can strongly influence teachers’ caring behavior.Based on the findings above,suggestions on optimizing teachers’ caring behavior are put forward as follows: 1)Exploring strategies for optimizing teacher teaching behavior from the perspective of student learning;2)Pay attention to the linkage effect of students’ interest in teaching and learning;3)Initiating teachers’ wisdom teaching with students’ effective learning;4)Attach importance to teacher ’s value orientation to students and promote the influence of students’ emotional participation on both student learning and teacher teaching. |
