The importance of teacher-student relationship in the teaching process is self-evident.The quality of it not only directly affects the students and teachers,but also affects the quality of the whole teaching.Because of the indifferent relationship between students and teachers and the utilitarian tendency,we need to establish a new teacher-student relationship.Nel Noddings,who was a great educator in America,applied "caring" to school education,proposing the unique"caring education theory".And she proposed "a care-oriented relationship between teachers and students",which means that in specific educational contexts,teachers and students transmit knowledge,communicate minds,exchange feelings and grow together by caring for each other.By investigating the current teacher-student relationship in primary school,we can find some problems and propose corresponding improvement strategies."The care-oriented relationship between teachers and students" in primary school encompasses all of the following:Teachers and students' comprehension of the relationship;Teachers and students' tendency of"caring";The methods teachers and students use to care for each other;The degree of "caring"that is applied in the relationship;The factors affecting the building of the relationship;The function of "the care-oriented relationship between teachers and students".According to the above,the questionnaire methods,the interviewing methods and the classroom observation methods were used.The research presents a series of problems:The teachers and students lack the comprehension of "the care-oriented relationship between teachers and students";Teachers and students care less for each other;The way teachers and students care for each other is incorrect;The degree of "caring" that is applied in the relationship is not high.Several reasons lead to the problems:The current education shows a utilitarian tendency;Teachers' abilities of caring are not strong;Students lack the awareness of caring;The communication between teachers and students is not effective.In respect of the issues above,some measures are considered.In school,the educators should apply "caring" to establishing educational goals,the curriculum system and the evaluation system.Teachers should reinforce the comprehension of"the care-oriented relationship between teachers and students";they should enhance "caring"practice;they should change the way to care for students;and they should improve the degree of"caring" that is applied in the relationship.
