The activity of children on duty in kindergarten refers to the activities of children’s participation in collective service.By making researches on it,the author of this dissertation explores its current situation,analyzes its existing problems and influential factors,and offers some suggestions for raising the quality of children on duty in kindergarten and promoting growth and development of children.The dissertation summarizes the relevant research findings in China and foreign countries on theme of “children on duty in kindergarten”,assesses its advantages and disadvantages,and interprets its enlightenment for this study.Besides,this thesis introduces the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory,Life education theory,the Bio-ecological theory,and Social role theory,which is a very important base to study systematically children on duty in kindergarten.Four major approaches applied in the research are questionnaire method,interview method,observational method and physical analysis,which accumulates a great number of information on children on duty in kindergarten from 542 teachers,parents and children.Both quantitative and qualitative research tactics are adopted with a triangulation of multiple methods and sources in this study.Therefore,both reliability and validity of the study are enhanced.The thesis approaches children on duty in kindergarten from different angle.On the one hand,the research explores thoroughly the purposes and values,time and places,selections and arrangements,wall decorations and symbols,contents and rules,division of labor and duties,implementation and guidance,evaluations and reflections.On the other hand,the research studies concretely the ideas and behaviors of teachers,parents and children.As a result,the research shows achievements(for example,kindergarten teachers and parents have realized the educational value of the duty activities,have formed some mature implementation steps,children’s comprehensive abilities have been improved),problems(for instance,the children’s actual participation sovereignty is limited,the unbalanced development of children’s abilities,kindergarten teachers and parents have not communicated deeply),crucial factors(for example,kindergarten,family and society)and main functions(for instance,promoting children’s self-management ability,the awareness of labor service,sense of responsibility and perseverance,cooperation and negotiation,working independently and language)in children on duty in kindergarten.The thesis makes some suggestions for kindergarten,family and relevant educational department.(Kindergartens should pay more attention to children on duty in kindergarten,teachers should understand the importance of children on duty in kindergarten deeply,perfect the process of children on duty in kindergarten,strengthen cooperation between families and kindergartens.Parents should establish a scientific viewpoint towards children,respect the needs of children’s development and support children on duty in kindergarten.Relevant educational departments should keep consistency with the direction of educational laws)for the purposes of promoting children’s children’s continuous growth and development.Finally,this dissertation points out the creativeness and shortcomings of the research,and puts forward several problems for future research.
