A Study On Promoting Life Adaptation By Self-directed Learning Of“Shanghai Floating Elderly”

In recent years,with the transformation and development of the society,the phenomenon of population mobility has become increasingly significant,the policies which are related to floating population have been issued,and floating population is increasingly concerned by people and researchers in the society.At the same time,the research results named with "old drifting family","following old people" and "old drifting group" keep appearing,which has attracted the attention of researchers in sociology,demography and other disciplines.Obviously,the old drifters have also become the object of attention in adult pedagogy.As a graduate student of adult pedagogy,the author pays attention to the social phenomena and social groups in this new era,and the author is interested in the adaptation of urban life and self-directed learning of these groups.Combining with daily observation and theoretical study,the author decided to take the "old drifting group" in Shanghai as the research object,and called them "Shanghai floating elderly".The research focuses on three problems: First,what is the living conditions of the "Shanghai floating elderly" in this internationalized city? Second,is there a self-oriented learning of "Shanghai floating elderly" in the process of life integration?Third,if there exists self-oriented learning in "Shanghai floating elderly" behavior,then how do these learning promote life adaptation?In the course of the actual research,the author adopts the purposeful sampling method,selects 60 representative "Shanghai floating elderly",collects the data by using the interview method,combines the related theories of adult pedagogy and sociology,carries on the comprehensive analysis to the research problem.The main findings are as follows: To start with,The life adjustment of "Shanghai floating elderly" includes two types: one is the coping life adjustment,mainly based on language communication,consumption habits,interpersonal communication and cross-generation parenting;the other is the expanding life adjustment,mainly based on leisure life,regional culture,quality life and self-improvement.A few "Shanghai floating elderly" are basically or completely able to adapt to life in big cities,while most "Shanghai floating elderly" are less or completely unable to adapt to life in big cities.Secondly,among the majority of "Shanghai floating elderly" who cannot adapt to life in big cities,there are a few "Shanghai floating elderly" who have not yet developed learning needs.However,most of the "Shanghai floating elderly" have strong learning needs for the in-adaptability in life,and such needs are caused by the in-adaptability in life of the "Shanghai floating elderly".Thirdly,the self-oriented learning of "Shanghai floating elderly" is mainly reflected in learning from family members,learning with friends from Shanghai,learning through Internet media suchas radio and mobile phones,and going to community colleges or universities for elderly people.Although some of the learning effects are not ideal,it cannot be ignored that the majority of "Shanghai floating elderly" promote coping life adjustment and expanding life adjustment through self-oriented learning.The author further analyzes the factors that influence the integration of "Shanghai floating elderly" into the life of big cities with the method of systematic holistic thinking.It is found that the external factors that influence the life adjustment of "Shanghai drifters" include the mapping of traditional culture,the hindrance of social system,the influence of community environment and the attitude of local people.The internal factors that influence the life adjustment of "Shanghai floating elderly" include the restriction of individual ideology,the influence of self-adaptation ability,the active and passive integration process,and the limitation of receiving education level.According to the research,the author sums up the "eight learning experiences"the existence of "two learning problems” and the required “three learning supports”from the perspective of self-oriented learning,so as to achieve the purpose of"Shanghai floating elderly" to adapt to the life in big cities.These "learning experiences","learning problems" and "learning support" can provide reference for the"Shanghai floating elderly" to adapt to life and improve their learning ability in big cities.Specifically,the "eight learning experience" include: "Shanghai floating elderly" to "study can improve the life adaptation" as the principle of learning,for"problem oriented actively studious" learning attitude,with "timely access to family learning resources,the active use of the surrounding public learning resources,and actively develop interpersonal relationship,followed by information network media resources" as learning channels,to "both formal and informal learning for learning style,to pay attention to the feedback of learning content" for learning feedback.The"two learning problems" include: the fragmentation phenomenon in self-directed learning and the poor adaptation effect phenomenon in life adaptation which self-directed learning promotes.The "three learning supports" include: policy support at the municipal level,active cooperation on community streets,and care from educational institutions for the elderly.Based on the principle of "returning to the rich old people's life world and walking into the colorful old people's spiritual home",the study aims to realize the integration of "Shanghai floating elderly'" life in big cities by promoting learning internally and supporting learning externally.
