In recent years,with the rise of positive psychology trend of thought,gratitude and learning engagement has gradually become a hotspot of psychological research.As a positive affective trait,gratitude tendency can broaden cognition and stimulate and promote learning engagement.The existing researches mainly focus on the concept of gratitude,measurement tools and their influencing factors or effects,with few empirical researches on intervention.This study intends to explore the relationship between gratitude tendency and learning engagement of junior high school students,so as to enhances the development of the broaden-and-build theory of positive emotions and enrich the empirical research on the intervention of gratitude tendency through intervention research,so as to provide a new direction and operational approach for the society,especially school education,to train young students to be grateful.In study 1,a total of 606 junior high school students from 3 middle schools in Hohhot were selected by cluster sampling method.The questionnaire gq-6 and the learning engagement scale were used to investigate the current situation and characteristics of gratitude tendency and learning engagement of junior high school students and the relationship between them.In research 2,based on facets of the grateful disposition and combined with empirical research,a scheme is designed to improve gratitude tendency from the four aspects of the span,frequency,intensity and density of gratitude tendency.Two classes of junior high school students were randomly selected and the experimental design of pre-test and post-test in experimental group and control group was adopted to explore the influence of the intervention scheme on the gratitude tendency of junior high school students.The findings indicate the following:(1)The gratitude tendency of class cadres is significantly higher than non-class cadres.(2)The learning engagement of class cadres was significantly higher than non-class cadres,and the contribution score of grade one was significantly higher than grade two.The learning engagement of students from rural areas was higher than that of urban students except for the contribution dimension.(3)Gratitude tendency is positively correlated with learning engagement,and gratitude tendency can positively predict learning engagement,with an explanatory rate of 0.238.(4)The difference test of the intervention effect was significant,which showed that the increase of gratitude tendency in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group.The object of span in gratitude tendency mostly are people in experimental group before intervention,only one participant gratitude natural and social environment;After intervention,natural and social environment of gratitude to be involved in more subjects.(5)In the gratitude records,the gratitude objects of junior high school students are mainly people,among which the gratitude contents of the peers are recorded the most.This study confirmed the effect of gratitude tendency on learning engagement and improved the level of gratitude tendency of junior high school students.To some extent,it improves the theoretical system of gratitude tendency,enriches the empirical research on the intervention of gratitude tendency,and provides reference opinions for improving the level of gratitude tendency of junior high school students.
