Since the reform and opening up 40 years old,China's education has achieved unprecedented development.The National Medium and Long-Term Education Reform and Development Program(2010-2020)points out that "all-round improvement of the quality of higher education" is the core task of China's higher education development in the next 10 years.With the popularization of higher education,colleges,as an vital institution for scientific research and personnel training,have getting more and more attention.In this context,the comprehensive evaluation of universities in different institutions at home and abroad has been carried out rapidly,and the research on evaluation methods and evaluation result has continued to emerge.What is the difference between these evaluations?What are their emphasis?Comparing them is a meaningful work,and it also provides a reference for futher reasonable evaluation methods.As we all konw,the idea reflects the design idea of the indicator system,and also determines the selection of the indicators and the distribution of the weight of the evaluation subject in the evaluation Index system.Firstly,the paper analyzes the“design concept” of each ranking index system,then compares the indicator system vertically and horizontally,then makes a consistent evaluation of the results of various evaluation methods with the help of the actual data,and finally,some suggestions for comprehensive evaluation are given accroding to the problems found in the above analysis.Through the horizontal comparison of different ranking indicators system,it is found that from the comparison of content,each ranking is involved in the education input category,process category and output index.The only difference lies in the different aspects of each ranking.Some focus on the measurement of the universityfrom the input indicators,while others focus on the measurement of the university from the output indicators.From the absolute and relative indicators analysis,the netbig focuses on the combination of absolute and relative indicators.The Wushu Lian and the middle-ranking list focus on the impact of absolute indicators(ie “scale”)on university rankings,while alumni associations do not involve relative indicators.Through the vertical comparison of the same ranking indicator system,it is found that the alternative indicators of each level of the alumni association list are more abundant,focusing on the impact of high-quality indicators on university rankings,and also paying more and more attention to the international standards of indicators.The only ranking that has always adopted the secondary evaluation index system,focusing on the combination of “total” and “per capita indicators”,comprehensively evaluates the university.The index system of Wushu Lian and Alumni Association is relatively stable,and the indicators and weights are not changed much,just There are certain fluctuations in the three-level indicators,especially in the alumni associations.Indicators and weights sometimes do not change for many years.According to the consistency and stability analysis of the selected top 100 university rankings from 2016 to 2018,it is found that the rankings of the universities in the different rankings are consistent,and the universities in the top 50 rankings are more consistent than those in the bottom 50 rankings.The same evaluation subject has stability among the university rankings in recent years.Some of the universities in Wuhan have micro-verified the above results,and the results are consistent with the above conclusions.After the above analysis,the following suggestions are proposed for the problems of each ranking index system: for ranking institutions,(1)classifying universities and establishing a multi-level evaluation index system;(2)focusing on the improvement of the indicator system;(3)The evaluation agency's assessment process information is transparent.For colleges,(1)rationally treat and actively respond to the university rankings;(2)adhere to their own school characteristics and development orientation,and coordinate development;(3)insist on talent training and scientific research go hand in hand.For the government and the society,(1)the state should establish asound database system,and(2)the public should combine its own development and future development orientation,and understand the information in many aspects,so as to improve the accuracy and reliability of the unit selection of talents and the choice of students.
