Study On The Internationalization Strategies For Michigan State University

Since the beginning of the 21 st century,with the acceleration of the globalization and the development of the knowledge economy,the internationalization of higher education elements has become more frequent.Universities around the world have accelerated the process of internationalization,trying to acquire more global resources and occupy a position in the international higher education market.Promoting international exchanges and cooperation between universities is also one of the key reform tasks for the construction of world-class universities and first-class disciplines in China.How to improve the internationalization level of Chinese universities and the ability to run schools internationally is one of the main problems facing the internationalization of higher education in China.As a model of internationalization of public universities in the United States,Michigan State University has established an international development concept of “Serving the World” in its international development process,and has carefully studied and formulated a series of international strategies and always put internationalization in the strategic position of school priority development.Through the full implementation of the internationalization strategy,the implementation of the system’s international practice programs,and the formation of a strong organizational guarantee operation mechanism,MSU’s ability of global participation and the rational use of global resources have been enhanced,and Michigan State University has achieved the goal of comprehensive internationalization.The goal is to enhance Michigan State’s international reputation and discourse power.This paper uses the literature research method,comparative research method and case study method to explore systematically the specific strategies of Michigan State University’s international development.Based on the three landmark events in the development of Michigan State University’s internationalization process,this paper explains the development history of Michigan State University’s internationalization,and analyzes the motivations and effects of its international development.The international program strategy of Michigan State University was analyzed from the international cooperation and exchange program,internationalization course and internationalization research carried out by Michigan State University;From the three aspects of international organization commitment strategy,international organization management strategy and international organization guarantee strategy,this paper systematically expounds the international organization strategy adopted by Michigan State University to ensure the smooth operation of internationalization.It summarizes the characteristics of Michigan State University’s internationalization strategies,in order to provide reference for the internationalization development of China universities.
