| The Master-level education has the responsibility for training high-quality and creative talents; meanwhile, it plays a more and more important role in enhancing the comprehensive national power and international competitiveness. Moreover, teachers play a critical part in reforming the elementary education successfully as well as improving the quality of the education, which has become a common consensus of the social community. As an emerging form of education in our country, Master of Education has become an important means for basic education to cultivate senior professionals, and has been paid attention in the field of education. With the development of this subject-Master of Education, most people have begun to focus on it as well as its quality.Although Master of Education develops rapidly and achieves remarkable achievements, the training program of it still has some problems in the process of practical implementation, which needs to be improved step by step. The Master of Education has long history in America, and the training program of it has tended to be more mature and perfect up to now, in the meantime, much experience has been accumulated. Consequently, this paper selects the training program of Master of Education in Michigan State University as the research object, in the hope of providing the reference for Masters’training program in our country.Based on the literature review, this paper reviews the developmental history of M.Ed degree in America with research methods including literature research, comparative study and case studies. Additionally, taking the training program of Master of Education in Michigan State University as an example, we analyze it from such aspects, recruitment target, training objectives, curriculum setting and awarding of degrees etc. and summarize training experience comprehensively, and then further study training characteristics of the program. More importantly, in view of specific problems of the training program in China, by adopting the America’s beneficial experience for masters’training in our country, we put forward some constructive comments and suggestions for China’s M. Ed training, so as to promote the Master of Education and build, reform and develop the system of teacher education.The paper consists of five parts, and the basic contents can be summarized as follows:The part one is a brief introduction. In the part, it mainly presents the reasons and importance of the study, and defines some core concepts, such as Professional Degrees, Master of Education. Moreover, it reviews the relevant literature review both at home and abroad, and introduces the research methods utilized in the study.The second part analyses the evolved and developmental history of Master of Education, and divides it into three stages;The third part introduces the M.Ed training program of Michigan State University, using the research method of case studies to further analyze the training program of Master of Education from three majors; based on the analysis of the third part;The forth part summarizes the characteristics of the training program of Master of Education in Michigan State University and the value orientation.In fifth part, on the basis of the present situation concerning training program of Master of Education in China and beneficiary experience as well as characteristics of the training program of Master of Education in America, we find that we should learn from American’s strong points to offset our own weakness, and therefore, some suggestions for the training program in our country are made as follows:such as setting additional ways of entrance examination; providing various election methods; clearing the training objectives and emphasizing practice courses; expanding teaching methods; enhancing the construction of the teaching staff; constructing the evaluation system of focusing on "practice ability". |
