The physical problem was a topic that was put aside by sociologists for a long time.Until the 1980 s,with the rise of the population,feminism and physical consumption,a "body turn" was created.In the consumer society,the female body becomes the main object of asset culture and mass media consumption,and has obvious symbolic value and connotation meaning.By combing the literature,the academic research on the female body is mostly from the perspective of feminism and disciplinary theory,and the gym is a new place for women to consume their bodies,and there are few studies on it.Through the new field of gymnastics,I hope to use the theory of physical sociology to explore the following questions through participatory observation and semi-structured interviews: What is the reason for women to choose“gym”;fitness is only a change of body for women or a kind of self-expression;if fitness is seen as a kind of self-expression,how women shape their identity through fitness.By combing the changes in women's physical practice choices and aesthetic standards in the consumer society,this paper finds that women have their own thinking about the new physical practice of fitness.This article takes 18 women from two gyms in L City as the research object.Through interviews,it was found that“fitness” is symbolized in the consumer society.It is an identity and a label for healthy living.The vision of the society still affects the shape of women.However,fitness can be seen as a kind of female self-expression.Fitness women have their own evaluation criteria for their physical fitness.They use it as a healthy lifestyle to meet their individual needs through fitness choices.Perhaps their aesthetics are not in line with the mainstream aesthetics,but they are still very confident.Insist on the ground and actively present the training results to the public.Through research,the body has increasingly become the core of contemporary women's self-identity.In the practice of female fitness consumption,on the one hand,it is influenced by the public aesthetics and symbolization.It is a manifestation of social discipline.On the other hand,they firmly have their own aesthetics,which is a strong self-realization and physical self.Express and inner identity.This external social influence and internalized self-expression construct the body of contemporarywomen,indicating that the female subject is undergoing a transition from social construction to self-construction.
