Since the 1980s,textbook reform has played an important role in the reform of education at home and abroad.The textbook reform in various countries not only pays attention to domestic needs but also draws on the experience of other countries.So,the international comparison of textbook has gradually become a hot area in educational research.Mathematics,as a basic subject in the primary and secondary schools,has become one of the important subjects of comparative international education research.And,the comparison of mathematics textbooks is the core content.The study mainly uses methods such as literature,comparison and content analysis.Based on the reform of mathematics curriculum of primary schools in China and Britain,the paper compares the contents of mathematics textbooks of “Statistics and Probability”.First of all,it has reviewed the reform process of mathematics curriculum in primary schools in China and Britain.Secondly,it compares the curriculum objectives and curriculum content of China and the UK.Finally,it compares and analyzes the content,organizational structure and writing characteristics of the textbook of the PEP and Collins edition.By comparing the mathematics curriculum standards and textbooks between Chinese and English primary schools,we found that the Collins version of the textbooks is larger than the PEP in terms of course depth and course difficulty;and the curriculum capacity and course breadth are smaller than the PEP.In terms of organizational structure,the PEP version uses linear programming content,and the Collins version uses spiraling ascending methods to arrange teaching content.Both of them have simple and clear features in the writing style.They all pay attention to the diversity of column settings and the illustration of layout design.In the writing of features,it is very important to pay attention to the example situation close to the society and life.They all use comic illustrations to assist students in understanding the examples.At the same time,in the above aspects,there are also many differencesbetween the two versions of textbooks.According to the research results,we put forward some suggestions on improving the PEP textbook of “statistics and probability”.First,we should increase the difficulty of the course of "statistics and probability".Second,the content of the textbook should be arranged in a spiral-up manner.Third,it should maintain a variety of column settings.Finally,we should optimize the example situation settings and example illustration types.
