The key competency of biology is an important component of cultivating students' key competencies.Based on analyzing the key competencies and the key competencies of biological,the author finds that there are more research on the connotation and characteristics of them.But few studies have done on key competencies in biology textbooks and improvement the key competencies' level of students.It can enrich the theoretical system of the key competencies of biology,which can provide reference for the biology teaching in senior high school,by analyzing the key competencies in biology textbooks and the investigation of the school's cultivation in students' life concept,scientific thinking,scientific inquiry and social responsibility.The results would have important practical significance on the realization of the teaching objectives of the discipline.Therefore,this study has analyzed the four elements of key competencies in textbook and the corresponding level by the content analysis method.The analysis showed that the content and all levels of key competencies are reflected in the textbooks,but the content of the social responsibility is relatively less in textbook.Combined with the final exam papers,this study also has investigated the cultivation in key competencies of senior high school students.The investigation showed that students reached the first and second levels of key competencies basically,but the achievement to the third and fourth levels was poor,20.04% lower than the first two levels.This information reflects that the classroom still pays attention to the teaching of knowledge goals and neglect the cultivation of students' scientific thinking and scientific inquiry.There is also a lack of guidance for students to solve biological problems in daily life by using biological knowledge,and the cultivation of key competencies is poor.In order to promote and achieve the goal of cultivating students' key competencies at the third and forth levels,this paper puts forward three teaching strategies,Concept Teaching,Experimental Inquiry Teaching and Life-oriented Teaching,to provide some practical references for front-line teachers.
