With the vigorous development of education in China,especially the arrival of a new era of socialist construction,the public attach importance to the education quality of high school increasingly.As the major guide of school development,principal's level of leadership is related to the smooth operation and sound development of the entire school.With the continuous advancement of basic education reform,It is of increasing importance in leadership and research of principal.However,we are in a preliminary stage of academic research in Chinese academic circles currently,while United States,which is earlier than China to research educational leadership,has formed a rather mature theoretical practice system.Analyzing and grasping the theory and scientific connotation of headmaster's leadership contributes to enrich the research theory of leadership of principal in China,which can enhance the leadership ability of the high school principals in China.On the basis of combing the research on the leadership of American high school principals,this paper analyzes the scientific connotation,development and evaluation mechanism of American high school principal leadership research,and aims to provide useful reference for the development of high school principal leadership in China.This paper mainly uses comparative research method,literature method and factor analysis method to study,which are discussed from four aspects:The first part introduces the basic concept of the leadership of American high school principals,defines the concept of leadership of American high school principals layer by layer,clarifies the scientific connotation of the leadership of American high school principals,and the theory of principal leadership traits,the principal leadership behavior theory,The principal's contingency leadership theory and the revolutionary principal's leadership theory are discussed in detail.The second part describes the development of the leadership of high school principals in the United States,and introduces the basic content of the leadership of American high school principals: the legal leadership of the US high school principals,the planning leadership of the US high school principals,and the leadership of the US high school principals;The safeguard mechanism of the leadership of American high school principals analyzes and summarizes the characteristics of the education,complexity and professionalism of the leadership of American high school principals.The third part introduces in detail the development and evaluation mechanism of the leadership of American high school principals and then analyzes the development model and evaluation mechanism of US high school principals' leadership.The fourth part combines the existing problems of the development of the high school principals in China,sums up the enlightenment of the development of the leadership of the US high school principals to the country: scientifically grasp the connotation of the principal's leadership,effectively improve the leadership training of the principal,optimize the evaluation system of the principal's leadership,Scientific development of headmaster leadership.
